Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026

The Union Territory of Puducherry is heading to the polls for the 2026 Puducherry Legislative Assembly election, with the Election Commission of India announcing the complete schedule for the political contest. The election will determine the next government in the 30-member assembly of the Union Territory.

According to the poll schedule, the gazette notification was issued on March 16, officially kick-starting the election process. The last date for filing nominations is March 23, while scrutiny of nominations will take place on March 24. Candidates who wish to withdraw their nominations can do so until March 26, after which the final list of candidates will be published.

Voting in the Union Territory will take place in a single phase on April 9, along with assembly elections in some other states. The counting of votes will be held on May 4, when the results will determine which party or alliance forms the next government. The entire election process is scheduled to be completed by May 6.
